Membership

Membership is open to dance education teachers, health education teachers, physical education teachers, college/university faculty, future professionals, retirees, coaches, recreation professionals, individuals and organizations who share our mission. Members are encouraged to take active roles in NJAHPERD through leadership and volunteer positions in our organization.

Membership Categories

  • Professionals: are individuals engaged in the teaching of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance.

  • Future Professionals (Undergraduates and Graduates):  are those students attending colleges or universities and preparing for a profession in health, safety, physical education, physical activity, athletics, recreation, dance, and related fields.

  • Retirees: include any person who met the criteria for professional membership and is now retired as defined by the New Jersey State Retirement System.

NJAHPERD gives you access to a full spectrum of resources and services
to assist you in meeting the demands of the profession and to help you excel in your teaching.

Advocacy

Advocacy is the practice of exercising critical thinking and leadership to help advance our profession as a whole. As advocates we support our students by speaking up about what they want and need to make life and learning optimal for each of them. 

NJAHPERD leadership organizes advocacy initiatives with the New Jersey Department of Education, our Legislative Representatives, the Governor, and other likeminded organizations.

Grants

NJAHPERD's goal is to support quality program development in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance in New Jersey's Pre-K - 12 Schools, Colleges, and Universities. 

The mini-grant provides financial assistance up to $1000 for new program implementation or to expand/enhance an existing program.

Professional
Member

$65 Annually
  • These are individuals engaged in the teaching of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance.

Future Professional
Member

$10 Annually
  • These are students currently enrolled in a full-time professional program of study in health education, physical education, recreation, or dance.

Retired
Member

$20 Annually
  • These are individuals who met the criteria for professional membership and are now retired as defined by the New Jersey State Retirement System.
